Who We Are
Welcome! At Northway, we believe God’s love is expansive and unconditional and that through Jesus Christ, God has called us to love one another as God loves us. That’s why our mission is to share Christ with those seeking meaning and purpose. We welcome believers who seek to journey in faith with Jesus Christ, as well as questioners who have doubts or do not believe.
Northway is a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us. While we claim that rich heritage that arises from the Stone-Campbell Movement and the connections we have globally, we are a congregational church, meaning we claim our own identity and make decisions as a church body.
The Church
Northway Christian Church began in 1906 with two moms – two women who started a Sunday School class for their own and neighborhood children. Soon their horse-drawn carpool overflowed with children sent to Sunday School by other moms who believed in the power of the Almighty to enlighten their children, to open their minds, to train them in good character, to serve others, to spillover to those around them.
These pioneers of Northway created the DNA that embodies our church family today, the passion captured in James 1:22: “Be you doers of the word and not hearers only.” And for more than 100 years, we’ve celebrated this path of spiritual growth that defines Northway Christian Church – a path that weaves through everything we do, that fuels our passion and our purpose, that ignites our unique brand of evangelism, and that serves to unite us as both Disciples of Christ and disciples of our neighbors.
