Ash Wednesday Service
February 14 6:30 - 7:30 pm | Fellowship Hall & Online
A service of repentance, release and renewal. Ashes are a reminder of our frail humanity. It is a long-time practice for Christians to receive ashes on the forehead as a sign of repentance and our readiness to enter the season of Lent as we prepare for Holy Week and Easter. The ashes are actually last year’s Palm Sunday palms that have been burned, thus bringing us full circle. In many cultures ashes represent the end of one life and the beginning of another. For some of us, the service is about letting go of past mistakes. For others, it’s letting go of past pain. Whatever you need to release, this meditative service can be an opportunity to experience reflection and renewal as you prepare yourself to journey with Jesus through the 40 days of Lent.
