Shari

Rev. Shari Farley Sims is a third generation Disciple of Christ, having been baptized at Independence Boulevard Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Texas in third grade.  She grew up at First Christian Church in Carrollton before eventually transferring to Northway some 30 years ago. Her three children, son Taylor and daughters Michelle and Sarah, were raised in the loving family of Northway. We sadly and unexpectedly released Michelle to her heavenly home at age 31. Shari’s husband, Alan Frol, is also a long-time Northway member.

After serving in numerous leadership roles at Northway and participating in and leading numerous Honduras mission trips (27!) and serving as a Stephen Minister and leader, she finally answered the call to ministry and enrolled in Brite Divinity School the same year her youngest daughter went off to college. It was, as Daniel Migliore phrased it, “Faith seeking understanding.”

After serving for a number of years at Northway as a ministry assistant then graduating with an M.Div. degree from Brite, Shari also served as Northway’s Interim Minister to Children and Families. She then completed her chaplain residency at Parkland Hospital and went on to serve as a staff chaplain at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, both of which are county hospitals that serve the underserved. Shari’s greatest strengths and deepest passions revolve around mission/outreach and pastoral care. She is blessed beyond measure to dwell in the loving community of faith that IS Northway Christian Church.
